Additional Information:

AOII’s mission is to promote lifelong friendship, inspire academic excellence, to lead by example, and to serve our campus and surrounding communities. The values on which AOII was founded help lead us in the decisions we make and the behaviors we exhibit in our daily lives.

AOII was founded on a promise to serve not only one another but the greater community as well. This commitment reflects a philosophy of friendship, concern, and usefulness in the world. AOIIs exhibit their commitment to be servant leaders as they participate in a project that raises funds for AOII’s philanthropy, arthritis research and the American Juvenile Arthritis Organization.

AOII's philanthropic mission is to raise money for and spread awareness of arthritis and its more than 100 related diseases. Each year Epsilon Chi hosts an event called Strike Out Arthritis! Together with other AOII chapters, we help contribute millions of dollars toward education initiatives, assistance for families affected by arthritis, and new research that will hopefully one day find a cure!

Additionally, each year our chapter votes to support a secondary philanthropy that our sisters feel is of particular relevance to the current members. This year, we are raising awareness and funds for Lost Got Found, an organization dedicated to educating students about mental illnesses. Epsilon Chi aims to remove the stigma surrounding mental health by hosting events and partnering with other organizations on campus to promote safe and healthy conversation between students on Elon’s campus.

Our sisters also participate in annual philanthropy events such as the 24-hour ELONTHON Dance Marathon in support Duke Children’s Hospital and Relay for Life in support of Colleges Against Cancer.

As women of AOII, we pride ourselves on college loyalty and connection. Collectively we are involved in a range of groups including academic, athletic, religious, musical, philanthropic, and so much more! There are so many great ways to be involved at Elon and as an organization that prides ourselves on our diversity, we make sure that the women of AOII are able to invest their time in other organizations as well.

As sisters, we also support each other in our academic endeavors. From weekly study halls to a sister-run tutoring system, AOIIs at Elon help one another to achieve high academic standings.

Each semester we celebrate our sisters' high grades with the "Smarty Pi Social," an ice cream and toppings bar hangout. We also surprise our highest achievers each semester with treats. We are proud of the many ways our sisters seek academic excellence and love to show it throughout the semester.
