Shirley Tempos
About
The Shirley Tempos is an all-female a cappella group at Elon University consisting of 18 talented girls who love to sing and have a great time! When Tempos aren't recording in the studio, goofing off in rehearsal, or performing at their end-of-semester concerts, they perform regularly at gigs both on and off campus.
In March of 2016, the Tempos released their first ever single Hide And Seek by Imogen Heap. Without hesitation, the girls hit the recording studio again only one month later to begin the recording of their first ever EP, Tempest, which was released in April of 2017. Since then, the Tempos worked hard to record their first full-length album, Still Rising, which was released in the fall of 2020! Most recently, the Tempos released their new album Catalyst in 2024.
In Fall 2016, the Tempos hosted the first ever Acapocalypse -- an annual concert benefiting different charities. That first ever concert benefited the Ronald McDonald House of Chapel Hill, and the second Acapocalypse in 2017 benefited Camp Sunshine, a camp that provides hope and support for children with life-threatening illnesses. Most recently, the Tempos worked to raise money for Elon Academy, a program that provides local high school students with resources that aid in their academic development!
Auditions are held every September--come find us at the Fall Org Fair to sign up for an audition!
