About

The Elon Physician Assistant Student Society (EPASS) is the official Student Organization of Elon's Physician Assistant Program. Founded in 2013 by the inaugural class of the Department of Physician Assistant Studies, EPASS membership is open to all Elon Physician Assistant students.  EPASS is recognized by Elon University and by the Student Academy of the American Association of Physician Assistants (SAAAPA) as a student organization.

EPASS members participate in many volunteer activities including volunteering for The Open Door Clinic of Alamance County, staffing of cancer and cardiovascular screening clinics, educational outreach through the City of Burlington and the Alamance-Burlington School System, and work with organizations such as the Alamance County Animal Shelter and Habitat for Humanity. The official philanthropy of EPASS is The Open Door Clinic of Alamance County. Each year EPASS hosts the Great Cape Escape, a 5K/10K and 5k+10K Challenge with all proceeds going to the clinic. In its first four years the GCE raised a total of over $66,000 for Open Door Clinic.

EPASS activities also include professional development through attendance at PAPA, NCAPA, and AAPA meetings; participation in an annual leadership workshop designed for physician assistant students; and team-building and social activities within the group itself.

Elon's Physician Assistant program engages 38 students through an innovative systems-organized curriculum that employs hands-on clinical skills labs, simulated patient experiences, lecture and patient scenario discussions. This master's degree prepares graduates to think critically and act skillfully to meet expanding health care needs in local and global communities.
