Historic Neighborhood

The Historic Neighborhood is a unique community located in the oldest part of Elon’s campus. It encompasses the oldest building on campus, West residence hall opened in 1905, as well as the five buildings erected in the wake of the 1923 fire. The vibrancy of the Historic Neighborhood is enhanced by the fact that it includes not only ten residence halls, but also a number of academic buildings and a dining hall; hence activity in the neighborhood begins early and ends late. Some of the university’s oldest and most well-known traditions occur within the Historic Neighborhood, including convocation and graduation each year "Under the Oaks."
